Mohammed Shami charged for dowry and sexual harassment

first_imgKolkata Police file chargesheet against Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami and his brother at Alipore court today (14 March). In the chargesheet, Shami has been charged under sections 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment). Shami and his wife Hasin Jahan have had a long-standing case on after the latter came out with screenshots of his alleged affair on social media. The couple’s bitter spat came into limelight on 7 March last year; however, Shami had said that all this was a conspiracy to ruin his career. Jahan had lodged a police case at the Kolkata police headquarters on 8 March 2018, accusing him and his family of torture, physical abuse and mental harassment. Shami, however, maintained that Jahan’s accusations were baseless.Shami’s wife had even accused him of match-fixing following which he was omitted from the central contracts list by the BCCI pending investigations. However, after a complete investigation by BCCI, he was given a clean chit and they reinstated his central contract.
